Happy LOVE day Splenda - 25 of the best years evah!

25 years ago, I was lucky enough to marry my very best friend. Sounds so cliche doesn't it? But, it's TRUE!Aren't we just the cutest couple? I mean really, what with my dark roots, Sun-In bleached brillo pad hair, three chins and what is up with those shoes?? Splenda on the other hand is smoking hot with not just the best mullet out there, but he's rocking the porn star mustache like it's nobody's business! I totally had to trick him into marrying me. Okay, the real story? He had to, he had put too much money into me to lose out on his investment!

We met on a blind date November 6th, 1983. I was a senior in high school, renting a room in a house with a bunch of girlfriends that had graduated the year before. My BFF's boyfriend had a friend that thought would be great for me. Enter the Splenda.
I walked down the stairs to meet him and about peed myself. He was tall, dark, and oh so handsome. He also carries a 5-oh-clock shadow 24/7 so when I looked at him, I literally thought "I'm in WAY over my head. This guy is a MAN! He was not the high school boys I had been dating."

We hit it off right away. After the first two weeks when he was too afraid to call me, we saw each other every single day. He fixed my piece of crap car, fed me, and made sure I had the things I needed. I was a starving high school student making 2.89 an hour.

August 16th 1984, we got married in his parent's backyard. It rained and we thought we were going to have to move the wedding indoors, but right before start time, it stopped and cleared up. It was pretty, but my heels sank into the lawn as I walked towards him.

Our first kiss as a married couple was the most romantic kiss of all time. 'Nuff said.

In 1996, our family which now had three boys, were sealed in the Jordan River Temple. Happiest day of my life.

25 years later we are happy as clams. It's been a great ride. Sure there have been bumps, but nothing more than small blips on a radar. I would be lying if I said it was perfect, but you know what? It's pretty dang close.

He is my best friend, my confidante, my everything that I am not. I love him more than anything else on this earth and thank the heavens every single day that he is mine. I find myself wondering on a regular basis, what he could possibly see in me that would make him want to stay with me not just this long, but for all eternity. I don't think I'll ever understand, I'm just dang glad he loves me.

So to you Splenda Daddy - Happy 25th anniversary. My diet coke bottle is raised in a toast to us! And........to infinity and beyond!

*I did do a wedding tag a long time ago, you can read more here.
