Go Jags!

It's State Playoff's time for high school basketball and once again we find our school in the running! We have a great program run by a great coaching staff. Our two older boys were a part of the program for a couple of years and we have a good friend who is one of the coaches, so we usually like to hit some games and keep in the know. However, this year. Splenda and I didn't make it to any regular season games (a little busy with Sissy), but once we heard they were in the state tournament, we made it a point to go!
Wednesday was the quarter finals. WJ Jaguars took on Lehi Pioneers (I know! Can you imagine saying you were a Pioneer?! Sounds sooo......tough!?
Anyhoo, we've got a great team and watched an exciting ball game! It's also fun to see old friends that we've seen year after year in the stands, our YM/YW in the ward, and folks we haven't seen since baseball season, YEARS AGO! Good times.
Next up tonight? The Davis Darts. Again, Dart? What is that and why is it a mascot? Who gets to dress up as that??
Keep your fingers crossed, I hope we come out with a W!
Our cheerleaders - she is my favorite!

A school photographer and our Dance Company behind him. They performed at half time and were fantastic!

At the line

We learned VERY early on, DO NOT MESS WITH COACH ALLFREY.EVER! (dude on the right) This picture doesn't show that he really has a soft side. He does, I promise. At least that's what I've heard. And PS - if you know him, don't tell him these are here, he will KILL.ME. Seriously.

I love high school sports...and people watching at high school sports. The teens are so fun to watch as they flirt or whatever. Cracks me up!

Hi! I hopped over here from Author Bee's Blog. HS sports are the best, especially when they make playoffs! The coach's pic make him look angry, but I could see he would have a soft side.

Love your blog!

How fun! I never learned the WJ fight song. All I learned was to say "Fight fight fight fight" for every word. LOL

I was a lame Jag.

We're the Warriors and we're the best. We've got courage deep inside. Just look at all the things we've done and all the victories we've won, our school is #1 we say with PRIDE! We are always above the rest, and that is the reason why we'll fight for the gold, and win for the blue we're the Warriors from Taylorsville HIGH! W-A-Double R-I-O-R-S!

OMG --guess what !!!!!!!! All my kids graduated from WJ High. My son was an Allstate football player and ran the first touchdown when the stadium got their lights on the field. He was also their FIRST homecoming KING. And, I had a daughter who was a cheerleader there. Was that cheerleader YOUR daughter?? We are Jags for sure.
My husband teaches and is a football coach at Copper Hills High and when they play WJ, I tell him, sorry, I have to root for WJ.(he gets it)

I have 5 nephews that graduated from WJ High. Know the John Winder family?

And aren't you glad they're the WJ Jaquars and NOT the Jordan Beetdiggers?? I love telling my Vegas students about all the kooky mascots in Utah (like the Delta Rabbits, the Lehi Pioneers...)

I myself am a Granger Lancer.

Don't judge.

Fun! I always loved those games. I was a Hawk. A little more exciting than a pioneer (really, they need to rename that. My poor nephews...)
