Thankful Thursday

I find that most my list today are people.....

Abraxas Kennels and their groomers. Who else would put up with a neurotic, crazy 120lb golden retriever who cries and whimpers at the sound of a little pop and can take out small children with a single wag of his tail? We get him shaved to keep his coat from shedding (he lives indoors), and she once commented that grooming him was "like shaving a sheet in the wind." I am thankful for their patience, their professionalism and their kindness towards my furry, four-legged children.

The secretaries at West Jordan High school attendance office. When I called today to excuse Tuffy's absences due to illness, they were kind enough to make sure I understood that a doctor's note was going to be required. Hmmm, I wonder WHY? I am thankful for their diligence in making sure that my son's attendance or lack thereof is properly accounted for.

The drive through crew at my local Wendy's. I've been there twice this week. Both times for the Tuffster I might add, and both times I might have accidentally either squealed Molly's tires or otherwise made a fool of myself in the drive up lane. It's very hard to pull off "cool" in the 'stang when you can't really even drive it properly. But I am thankful to those non-english speaking, visor capped, professionals who kept straight faces whilst processing my order and who, I am sure, did NOT bust up laughing as soon as I drove off.

Instant Messaging at work. When I spend much of my time working off site, it is difficult to maintain proper working relationships. And by that, I mean proper levels of harrassment on a regular on-going basis. But thankfully, with IM, it doesn't matter where I am at, I can provide my daily dose of sexual harassment to the necessary co-workers. Even if their status is marked busy, they often are there tap tapping away at their keyboards and my very important message will pop up to them. It's a necessary part of the working and creative process and I am so thankful that it is available. IM is also good for keeping in the gossip loop. Which as you know, is the most important part of any working environment.

My YW who weren't offended when I said I wouldn't share popcorn. You see, I have an issue with all kinds of hands reaching into the popcorn bowl or bag. Ick. So rather than share, I just made everyone their own bowl. I am so thankful that no one complained or was offended. While I love the girls, I won't share popcorn. They are always so kind to me and my weird little thingies.

Brad at Wasatch Running Center. Dude spent a good deal of time with me tonight properly fitting me for a good running shoe. It was time for a new pair, and I wanted them for Saturday. Of course, he was kind enough to inform me that they really recomment two weeks to get the shoes in order for a big run, but hey, I haven't followed any rules regarding this upcoming race so why should I start now? Guess we'll see how it goes, but I was very thankful for his time and attention. Dude rocks and they now have a life long client in me.

So what or whom are you thankful for today?

2 weeks?? Dang, I got mine yesterday and don't plan on running a mile until Saturday :-)

And I assumed squealing the tires in a Stang was required wherever you went!

I loved it when you squealed the tires in the Mustang when you took me for a ride. Totally awesome!

I, too, am thankful for IM at work. Don't know what we'd do without it.

Just SO said...

YW rock.

And good luck in your race on Saturday.

Good luck on your race and I love the fact that your squeeling tires like a 16 year old!

The whole excused absence thing. So with you. It's like the parent is trying to be their kids best friend and sneaking them out of school or something. Drs. charge for their signature you know :) Just joking, but I might use that as an excuse next time they ask for a note from the doctor.

Good luck on your race and I will remember that popcorn thing the next time we go to the movies together :)

Hey good luck on Saturday! I was going to try to run it with you but I've got to put in a 20 miler that day.
But, I know you're gonna rock!

That's a very nice thankful Thursday list. Did you get the doctor's note for your son, or just let him be a delinquent?

How could anyone laugh at a pretty lady in a sweet Mustang? I keep forgetting to get the scoop on you from Jake's friends who are your YW. I bet they have some good stories. :) :)

Like you I am really Thankful for AF High School Addentance office call me at least 3 times a week to inform me of my sons lack of attendance to a class or tardiness!

I am with you on the popcorn. I don't even like to share with my own children. Did they wash their hands?

I am most thankful for the endless supply of boxes my hubby is bringing home from work right now. So I don't have to go searching for any. It has made this preparing to move thingy go a lot easier.

Have a great day. Love this post.

I am thankful for friends that bring me Monsters and race packets when I am sick.

Oh, and give my kid a ride to school.

Oh, and talk me off the ledge.

My problem isn't squealing tires, it's the cool mini-van bumping against the curb thing. Yeah, my depth perception sucks!
