Tickle Me Pink Tuesday - illustrated version......

Today I went for a Lumbar Sympathetic Block. The idea behind the block is two-fold. One, it will definitely confirm CRPS or rule it out. (I was confirmed),

Two, and more importantly, it affects the nerves and give pain relief so that I can walk and move more around on my leg.

Bright and early my BFF SIL picked me up and off we went to

here

After a brief wait I was called back to the procedure area. Donned a lovely gown and was reminded of the things that would take place.
An IV was placed and I was laid on the procedure table. Face down. As they pulled my good girls down to get to the proper area to insert the needle in the lumbar area, I did have to remind them that I DID NOT want and wise cracks about my fat butt. No comments on the dimples they would run into. Nothing.

They gave me some relaxation drugs. I stayed awake but was very calm, relaxed and a bit high and drowsy.

They numbed the area in my back, turned on the xray machine to watch as she inserted the large needle into the appropriate area.

She injected the wonderful drugs. Cleaned me up, and moved me to a post op area to recover.

After a short recovery time, where they did some testing on the temperature of my feet and how my leg was feeling, I got dressed and staggered out to the waiting area and to my BFF SIL.

I was on cloud 9! Okay, so I have a little pain where the fracture is, but overall, the rest of the pain is GONE!. I have to do some rubbing of my thigh, but was given the go ahead to begin walking, cycling and swimming. No running. No elliptical machine, but I can live with that for now! Before.....

AFTER!!

I go back for another block next Monday, continue the Lyrica meds, but I am no longer chained to these stupid crutches and I can go back to the gym!

As I type this, I am still very high from the relaxation drugs, but overall, I am feeling so good and so happy I just want to shout with joy! I am MORE than tickled pink.

But I can't finish this story without sharing my experience last night. I asked my husband for a priesthood blessing. It was beautiful. It was soothing and calming. He is such a good man, and I know that his words were from my Heavenly Father.

After the blessing we went downstairs and watched Elder Holland's talk. It was the icing on the cake for me.

That spirit was still with me as I walked into that office this morning and is still lingering. Life is good. Life is very good indeed. Earlier yesterday I wanted to give up. I wanted to crawl into bed, pull the covers over my head and cry until I slept. And then sleep for weeks without waking up. That's how down I was.

Amazing how asking for the Lord's help, putting faith in Him, and in those who are to care for you, can change one's attitude.

Yeah, I am tickled PINK!

Yay! So glad all went well. Being in constant pain is so discouraging. Being a constant pain is even worse! ;] (I'm sure you were far from being that though) I'm glad they were able to figure things out so you can get your workout groove on again. It's amazing what a priesthood blessing will do...calms us, gives us peace, changes our hearts and our attitudes, gives us courage to move forward. And wasn't Elder Holland's talk A-MA-ZING!!! I loved it! I was speechless, which doesn't happen all too often.

Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!

This means you can come back to work so I can see you more often. I like this idea. I also like the idea that my darling friend is no longer in such terrible pain. I hated that for you.

Yay for drugs and being pain-free.

And extra yay for priesthood blessings. That sounds odd. I hope it's not blasphemous.

What great news and what an amazing recovery.
We are so blessed to live in a day and age where medicines like this are available.
Of course, the best medicine is the Priesthood and how sweet to have that in your home and to be able to partake.
Happy for you.

I am so happy for you!
I am constantly in awe at how fast our Heavenly Father is there when we reach out..

Now, take it easy and don't try to do too much too fast!
(the mom in me had to say that :-)

This is good news. I'm happy for you. You are right about Priesthood blessings. It is amazing how they can help. Elder Hollands talk was nothing I had ever heard before. He spoke to my heart and soul, and I guess everyone else's too.

Take it slow..
