Christmas Traditions - Installment Eight

There is a little cul-de-sac in the next town over that, FOR YEARS, has decorated all their homes and placed large signs with an abbreviated "Twas the night before Christmas" story.

My boys loved it when they were little and it was something that we made sure to hit every year.  Now that Sissy is old enough to enjoy them, we took advantage of an errand-less night to go enjoy them.
(The large inflatable  Mickey Mouse was  a big hit with Sis.)

(Sissy wanted another pic of the big Mickey Mouse)

Yes it was a hit!  She loved the lights, she loved the animatronics and all the fun blow up characters.

After we left, this town we went to the next one over and to Winder Dairies.  As we pulled in Sis had a potty emergency, so hurried up the lane and into the country cottage in search of a bathroom.  We were hit with a huge line of people waiting for scones and hot chocolate.  I pushed my way through, got her taken care of and re-evaluated the line sitch.  We could have hot cocoa at home!

She watched the lights on the lane on the way out, but I will admit - I was LESS than impressed.

Overall, she loved the little venture and I can see that we are back to honoring this particular tradition!

How fun that the neighborhood does that. Cute Sissy. Do I see another chocolate mouth?

Homemade hot chocolate and scones are always better…mostly because you don't have to worry about a lack of seconds or thirds.

She is just the sweetest little thing!
That is neat that you have somewhere to go look at cool lights. Alot of people aren't even putting them up this year because of the economy.
Great tradition for little ones for sure!

Merry Christmas!

You will have to let me know where those houses are. We love going out and seeing lights. We go up to Sugarhouse ever year to Christmas Street for a similar experience.

btw- Where is Splenda? Driving?

I am so jealous. A whole cul-de-sac of gaudy lights. and the house in Picture #3....if you go back, I need more shots of that one. Is that where Clark Griswold lives?

I love it. I wish I could take Love Potion #1 and 2 there.

And I hafta tell ya, what with bein' from the south and all, my brothers and sister and I grew up drinking/loving buttermilk and Winder Dairies has the best buttermilk any of us have ever had. And now, after reading that you went there, I'll be craving it all day long.

Christmas with grandbabies is heaven. Sissy's so dang cute.

Oh we love the lighs. Sissy, glad you had a good time. We have a house in our old neighborhood that does a light show to four songs. You tune in to a radio station park out front and enjoy the show. I am not sure what it cost them every year but we love it.
Merry Christmas!!!!

I think you are going to have a great Christmas with that little monkey. She is a doll and you are the best granny for making such wondrous memories for her.
Granny.......that makes me laugh thinking about you as a granny.....cuz you are such a hot mama.

Merry Christmas my friend.

So exciting!!! This is a tradition for us as well! Christmas street is in my parents ward. They live the next street over from it.. and even though it's fun to look at with our kids.. it's a PAIN to get to my parents house on Christmas eve!

AND... I grew up with the Winders. They and our family were BFF's.
We did the scones and Cocoa when we were little. Well.. last year we decided to take our kids to partake in the old tradition.. and it was not that great. -- I'm not sure if it was because I expected too much.. or because we had to wait forever and sit at a dirty table. :)

Oh my goodness! Those are amazing lights! I grew up not far from Winder Dairies and it was always one of our favorite traditions - so glad to know it's still around :)
