Sweethearts Weekend

Friday was me and Splenda's Valentine's celebration.  Dinner at The Roof with some good friends.

If you have never eaten at The Roof, you would be impressed.  It's an all you can eat high-end buffet.  No Golden Corral here, instead it's prime rib, salmon, shrimp cocktail..... and don't even get me started on the desserts.  Seriously, I think I ate 6 different items from the dessert bar alone.

In addition to the wonderful food, The Roof is known for it's atmosphere.  Elegant seating, a lovely piano player in the background and then the view.  The restaurant sits atop the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in downtown Salt Lake.  The entire west side of the restaurant is windows with a spectacular view of the city lights and the Great Salt Lake, but primarily the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  At night time, it is breathtaking.

Where we were sitting also had a beautiful view of the state Capitol.  Alas, no pictures of that one.
The evening was filled with good food, laughter and catching up with dear friends.

Of course, no evening is complete without the standard pictures.

Saturday was the Sweetheart's dance at the high school.  Tuffy and his sweetheart were gorgeous in their color coordinating outfits.

After dinner and the dance, they came by our house to change and headed off to a big bonfire.

Ahhh to be young again and party all night long!

  13. Love the pic with you and the kids! Too funny, and sadly, TOO TRUE!! (Although I hope they noticed that it was JESUS looking over their shoulders before you got into the picture!)

I haven't eaten at The Roof in years, but I love it! Definitely things I miss about life in SLC.

  14. Wow ... looks like so much fun.

Love the photo of you between the two of them ... made me laugh out loud.

I can't even imagine my kids at that age, yet ... but I can't wait. You get to stop wiping bums at some point, right?
