I L Y P I - words of endearment at M-Cat's house

I L Y P I

Ask anyone in my little brood and they can tell you what it means.  It's like our secret handshake.  The code.  The password.  The means of expressing the ultimate love.

When my boys were little often times the conversations went like this:

Son - "I love you Momma"
Momma - "I love you too."
Son - "I love you more"
Momma - "I love you MOST"
Son - "I  love you a hundred times"
Momma - I love you a THOUSAND times"
Son - "I love you a million, gazillion times"
Momma - "I love you past infinity"

Infinity was it.  Nothing tops infinity, for it goes on and on and on.  Once we got to that part of the conversation.  It ended.  Okay, maybe a "me too" from whatever particular son I was having the convo with, but Infinity was most def it.

It became our signature line.  "I love you past infinity"
As time went on, it got shortened to ILYPI.  Cards, notes, letters, conversations all many times ended with ILYPI.  It's our code.  It's our family thing.  It transcends bickering, arguing or even the worst of fights.  It never loses it's meaning or it's intensity.

I even had a ring custom made for me several years ago with Splenda, 'dawg, Luka, Tuffy all etched into the silver.  And above it the ILYPI logo.

Whenever I get a letter or birthday card or note signed by my boys with that tag, I am taken back to the time when they were little and we tried to top each other with our love.  Some things never change.  This particular family trait will be one that I hope gets passed from generation to generation.

I L Y P I

Says it all.

  5. I love it.

My boys and their grammy have a similar that starts out with "I love you to the moon and back". Then the next person says, "I love you to mars/sun/pluto and back", and on it goes.

  12. I love this.

We sometimes say I love you as big as a giraffe's neck because when my oldest was about 4 we had a little conversation about how much I loved her.

We were into things like the sky and the ocean when her eyes got really big and she said, "Mommy! Do you even love me as big as a giraffe's neck?" Which is bigger than the sky, in case you didn't know. :)
