Twas the night before Elder L comes home, and all through the place,
Everything and everyone was in a race.
So much to get ready, so much to be done
For in a few short hours,
Off a plane he would come.......
Okay I'm no poet, obvio, but the 31st of December was dang exciting and nerve racking.
I started the morning off with breakfast at the wonderful Ruth's diner with my favorite SHARK and her friend JJ and his lovely wife.
I am going to claim JJ and his lovely wife as my friends now too. They are VERY cool people, and I hope they stick around long enough for a triple date. The Splenda would dig JJ and his lovely wife did not seem to be afraid of the Shark and I, so yeah, I totally dig her!
I had a great time and it helped set a great mood for the rest of the day. I spent it getting Christmas wrapped, last minute things done and ready. Some shopping. Some laundry. Hair cuts. You know, the essentials.
That evening we went to a friends house for a party. We intended to only stay an hour or so, since I had to work in the morning, but we started playing such a fun game that before I knew it, it was 11:30 and we figured why not stay for the midnight excitement! Good news, we had a blast. Bad news, I didn't grab my camera.
Picture 6 couples old enough to be playing brain games and every once in a while nodding off. Just like the old folks home as a matter of fact!
After ushering in the new year, 2010, with a smoochie from my Splenda, we toddled home and I tried to sleep. TRIED. TRIED. REALLY TRIED. It was near to impossible since the next day was New Years Day and the day I see my son after 2 years, 2 weeks.
Can't wait to hear about the reunion!
ReplyDeleteHurray! I am giddy, (even it already happened!!)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have your son back, safe and sound!
